Downstairs Function Options

The ground floor takes a more intimate approach, with two layouts available depending on the size of your event. A private downstairs room comfortably hosts up to 22 guests. For larger occasions, the entire downstairs area can be reserved exclusively, accommodating 110 indoors and an additional 30 outdoors.

Function menus are arranged across three formats to suit different event styles. The Il Gambero Special ($30pp) keeps things relaxed with assorted pizzas and shared pasta platters served banquet-style. Seated set menus are priced from $50 (2 courses) to $65 (3 courses) for more structured dining. Standing receptions are well supported by the Canapé Menu, which features grazing platters alongside warm bites such as Arancini, Salt & Lemon Pepper Calamari, Lamb Kofta, and Mini Pasta Boxes. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are included throughout each menu.

Behind the bar, four beers on tap sit alongside a thoughtfully curated wine list and a customisable cocktail offering. The Basic Drinks Package is offered across 3 hours ($45pp) or 4 hours ($55pp), covering tap and bottled beers, red, white, and sparkling wines, and soft drinks, with basic spirits available as a $12pp add-on. Hosts wanting greater control over what's served can opt for a flexible bar tab covering beer, cider, wine, and spirits, with the option to upgrade wines from our wider cellar list.

Common questions about our function rooms.

  • Yes. A $500 cash deposit is required to secure and confirm any private function at Il Gambero. The deposit reserves your chosen date and space, with the remaining balance settled around the time of the event. Please note that the deposit will be forfeited if the booking is cancelled within 2 weeks of the scheduled event date. 

  • Yes. Reserving the upstairs function room exclusively requires a minimum spend that varies by day: $3,500 on Saturday evenings, $3,000 on Friday evenings, and $2,000 on Sundays, with a 10% surcharge applied to Sunday bookings. The minimum spend is calculated as a combined total of food and beverage costs across the event. 

  • Yes. Celebration cakes are warmly welcomed at a charge of $2 per guest, with our chefs and staff cutting and serving the cake on your behalf. Any other BYO food or desserts may be considered, however these are only permitted by prior arrangement with management and an additional charge will apply. 

  • Final guest numbers are required no later than 48 hours prior to the event. This figure becomes the catering number for the function and is reflected on the final bill, so we recommend confirming attendance with all guests in good time before the cut-off date. 

  • Booking as early as possible is generally recommended, particularly for popular periods such as the lead-up to Christmas, New Year's Eve, and weekends throughout the year. Early enquiry secures your preferred date, allows ample time for menu planning, and ensures the smoothest possible coordination with our events team. 

  • Yes. Our events team is on hand to guide you through the available menu options based on the size, style, and tone of your event. From banquet-style platters and seated set menus through to canapé selections, we can recommend formats that suit your guests, your budget, and the overall pace of the evening.
